Labor Junction Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 1, 2026
Labor Junction is an app for home service businesses and the homeowners they work for. It is made by Element Five Solutions, Inc. (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.
At a glance
- We don’t sell your information, show ads or track you across other apps and websites.
- Who sees it: the people you work with in the app, and the service companies that run parts of Labor Junction for us (hosting, file storage, email and texts, push notifications, crash reports, AI features, payments). They may use it only to provide that service to us.
- Location: only if you allow it. The app reads your precise location once when you tap Start or Stop on a visit. Background location is off unless you turn on Arrival reminders, and even then it stays on your phone; we never track your route.
- Security: encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, with passwords stored only in hashed form.
- Retention: each kind of information has a set period, listed under “How long we keep information”; deleting your account removes your personal details right away.
- Breaches: if one affects you, we tell you without unreasonable delay (see “Data breach notification”).
- Your choices: opt out of texts, emails, notifications and location, or delete your account at any time. See How to opt out or delete your data and Delete your account.
Who uses Labor Junction
- Service providers run a business: customers, jobs, appointments, estimates, invoices and their crew’s time.
- Associates work for a service provider: visits, time, mileage and expenses.
- Customers are homeowners/property owners: properties, home equipment, jobs, appointments, estimates and invoices from the providers they work with.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, username, email address, phone number and password. We store only a scrambled (hashed) form of the password, never the password itself. Providers can also add a company name and logo.
- Sign in with Google or Apple, if you use it: we receive and store the account ID Google or Apple gives us for you, plus the email address and name they share. With Apple’s Hide My Email, we get only a private relay address that forwards to you. If that email belongs to more than one Labor Junction account, we show you those accounts so you can pick which to sign in to. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
- Profile photo, if you add one.
- A provider’s business profile: if they publish one, their trade, service area and the links to their pages on other sites (for example Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Nextdoor, Yelp, LinkedIn, X or Pinterest).
- A provider’s Venmo and Zelle details, if they add them: a Venmo username, a Zelle email or phone number, and a picture of their bank’s Zelle QR code.
- Portfolio posts: photos a provider picks from a job and the caption they write (see “Portfolio posts of finished work” below).
- Properties and addresses: homes and job sites you or your provider add.
- Work records: jobs, to-dos, appointments, estimates, invoices and payments you record, permits, notes, documents and photos.
- Home inventory: a homeowner’s equipment and appliances (for example the furnace or water heater, its room, brand, model, serial number, install date and warranty), their service history, and the upkeep reminders set for each.
- Time, mileage and expenses: visit start and stop times, miles, expenses and receipt photos, and approvals.
- Bug reports: what you write and, if you include it, a picture of the screen you were on, which may show other information from the app.
Photo location is removed: when you upload a photo, we strip the GPS location the camera stored in it before saving it, so a photo doesn’t reveal where it was taken.
Information collected as you use the app
- Precise location when you start or stop a visit. This is mainly for associates and providers recording time at a job. When you tap Start or Stop, the app reads your phone’s precise location (latitude and longitude) once and sends it to us. We save that point with the visit and work out how far you were from the property. Approvers and the provider see only the distance note (for example “at the property” or “0.4 mi away”), not a map of where you were. We use it only to show where a visit began and ended. This needs location permission “While using the app”, and it’s optional: if you don’t allow it, visits still work, with no location saved. The exact point stays with the visit while your account is open. If you delete your account, we erase it and keep only the distance note with the provider’s time record.
- Location in the background, only if you turn on Arrival reminders. This setting is off unless you turn it on (Profile → Settings → Arrival reminders). It asks for location “Always” (iPhone) or “Allow all the time” (Android). Your phone then watches for arrival at the properties on that day’s appointments and shows a reminder to start or stop your visit. The watching happens on your phone. We don’t receive your location in the background, track your route or keep a history of where you go. A location is sent to us only if you then tap Start or Stop, as above. You can turn it off any time in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Property coordinates. When a property has no map coordinates, the app looks up its address with your phone’s built-in map service (Apple or Google) and saves the result for that property.
- Subscription and billing information: for a provider’s paid plan, we receive from Stripe the plan, its status and renewal dates, billing identifiers and payment status. Card details are entered on Stripe’s pages; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Messages we send for you: the email addresses and phone numbers needed to send invitations, estimates, invoices, account notices and reminders, and your choices about how you hear from us.
- Device and notification details: a push notification token for your device, your app language and time zone, and your notification choices.
- Crash and error reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, it sends technical details (app version, device model, operating system version and what went wrong) so we can fix it. These reports don’t include your name, email or IP address.
From other services you connect
- Lead services: if a provider connects a lead service such as Thumbtack or Angi, we receive the leads it sends: the customer’s name, phone number, the job requested and its location.
The website and the web app
- This website (laborjunction.com) is plain pages. It sets no cookies and has no analytics or advertising. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them.
- The Labor Junction web app keeps your sign-in in your browser tab only (session storage), cleared when you close the tab. It sets no cookies for sign-in and loads no analytics or advertising.
- Web sign-up uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated sign-ups. It looks at signals from your browser and its IP address to do that, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
How we use information
- To run the app: show your work, schedule, invoices and messages to the right people.
- To send notifications you’ve allowed, such as appointment changes, new leads, approvals, invoices and reminders.
- To fill in forms for you (see “AI features” below).
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and improve it.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
We do not sell your information, do not show ads, and do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Your Minnesota Privacy Rights
If you are a Minnesota resident, the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act provides you with specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: You have the right to confirm whether we are processing your personal data, access such data, and obtain a list of the specific third parties to which we have disclosed your personal data.
- Right to Correction: You have the right to correct inaccuracies in your personal data.
- Right to Deletion: You have the right to delete personal data provided by or obtained about you.
- Right to Data Portability: You have the right to obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable, structured, and machine-readable format.
- Right to Opt-Out of Profiling: You have the right to opt out of the processing of personal data for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Categories of data and third-party sharing. In accordance with the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act, we process the following categories of personal data: identifiers (name, email, phone), commercial information (work records), geolocation data (precise location, processed only with your prior affirmative consent) and internet activity (device reports). We process these categories to provide Element Five Solutions, Inc. services and ensure security. We retain this data only as long as necessary for these purposes, per our retention schedule (see “How long we keep information”). We share these categories with service providers (hosting, payment processors) and relevant third parties you interact with. This notice is available in all languages in which our services are provided: English and Spanish (español).
Right to appeal. If Element Five Solutions, Inc. declines to take action regarding your request to exercise any of the privacy rights mentioned above, you have the right to appeal our decision within a reasonable period of time. We will notify you in writing of any action taken or not taken in response to an appeal within 45 days of receiving your request. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the Minnesota Attorney General to lodge a complaint at https://www.ag.state.mn.us/Office/Complaint.asp or by calling (651) 296-3353.
AI features
Some features use an AI service, OpenAI, to save typing. We send it only what that feature needs:
- Receipt scanning: the receipt photo, to read the store, date and amounts.
- On-site capture: only with your prior affirmative consent (the app asks before your first capture), the photo you take and your spoken note, to fill in a job, to-do or appliance.
- Estimate drafting: the provider’s notes about the job and their price list, to suggest estimate lines.
You always review the result before it is saved. Under our agreement, OpenAI processes this data to provide the service to us and does not use it to train its models. See OpenAI’s business data commitments and privacy policy.
Who can see your information
- People you work with in the app. A provider and their associates see the customers, properties and work records for their jobs. Customers see their own properties, jobs, appointments, estimates and invoices, and the providers they’ve connected with (see “Connecting with a service provider” below). A homeowner’s equipment is shared only as described under “Sharing your home’s equipment” below. Approvers see the time, mileage and expenses sent to them, including the visit location note described above.
- Service companies that run parts of Labor Junction for us (our “processors”). Each gets only
the information its part needs, acts only on our instructions, and is bound by its contract
with us to keep it confidential and secure. None may use it for its own purposes, sell it or
use it for advertising:
- Microsoft Azure: the app’s servers, the web app, this website and the database (United States).
- Cloudflare: storage of uploaded photos, receipts and documents, and the bot check on web sign-up.
- Azure Communication Services: email notifications, and text messages once they’re available.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: push notifications.
- Sentry: crash and error reports.
- OpenAI: the AI features above.
- Apple and Google: map lookups of addresses, push delivery, the app stores, and Sign in with Apple or Google if you use it.
- Stripe: online card and bank payments, and providers’ plan subscriptions. When you pay, you enter your card or bank details on Stripe’s page; Labor Junction never sees or stores them. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to that information.
- Anyone, signed in or not, can see a provider’s published profile (name, logo, trades, area, rating, licensed or insured, and links) and their portfolio posts, in the app and on the provider’s public web page (see “Providers’ public web pages” below).
- Venmo and Zelle details a provider adds show on their invoices and on the invoice’s payment page, for the customer to pay with. A Venmo or Zelle payment happens in that app or at your bank, under its own privacy policy; Labor Junction doesn’t see it. The provider marks it as paid.
- When the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or our rights.
Connecting with a service provider
A provider keeps their own record of each customer, made from the name and email or phone they enter. Your own Labor Junction account is separate from it, and the two are joined only if you agree.
- When a provider adds you, they don’t learn whether you already use Labor Junction: they see the same “invitation sent” either way. If you’re new, you get an invite code; if you already have an account, you get a request in the app.
- Nothing is shared until you accept. Accepting, or joining with the provider’s code, lets you see that provider’s jobs, estimates, bills and visits for you, and receive their notifications. The provider doesn’t get access to the rest of your account; they keep the details they entered. We record when you accepted and the wording you agreed to.
- Accepting is not agreeing to anything else. It doesn’t accept any estimate, approve any charge, or sign you up for marketing.
- You can decline or ignore a request. Nothing is linked, and the provider can still keep their own records of the work. After you decline, they can’t ask you again.
- You can disconnect at any time from My place → Service providers. You stop seeing that provider’s records from then on; the provider keeps their own business records.
- Future jobs from a provider you’ve accepted appear for you automatically, until you disconnect.
Sharing your home’s equipment
Your home inventory is private to you unless you choose to share it.
- Sharing is per home and off until you turn it on (“Share equipment with my pros”). Then providers with a job at that home, and the crew on that job, can see its equipment and service history. For a job from a provider you’ve connected with, you choose which of your homes it’s at; until you do, none of your equipment is shared on it.
- A provider can ask you to share. You get a notification and decide.
- Once sharing is on, a provider can record service they did, such as a tune-up. It appears in your service history under their name, and you’re notified.
- Turning sharing off, or disconnecting, closes their access again. Service they logged stays in your history.
- Upkeep reminders are sent to you only, when a piece of equipment is due for service. You can turn them off for each item.
Portfolio posts of finished work
A provider can post photos of work they did at a home to their portfolio, so others can see their work.
- What a post shows: the photos the provider picks from that job (up to six), their caption, the trade, and the city and state. It never shows the address, the homeowner’s name or the job’s details. For “Work near you” we keep only a rounded location (about a kilometre), and photos never carry the camera’s GPS location (see above).
- Who sees it: in the app, anyone signed in, on the provider’s profile and in “Work near you” for homes nearby, from the moment it’s posted. Three days after it’s posted, it also goes on the provider’s public web page, which anyone can see and search engines like Google can list. Posts show only while the provider’s profile is published.
- The homeowner is told. When a post shows your home, you get a notification and an email right away, so you have three days to take it down before it’s on the web. You can’t turn this notice off.
- You can take it down at any time. Tap “Rather not share” under My place → Photos of my home, or use the link in the email (no sign-in needed). The post comes off the provider’s profile, their web page and the feed at once, and the provider is told. You don’t have to give a reason. A search engine may take some time to drop a copy it already made; you can ask it to refresh (for Google, with its “Refresh outdated content” tool), or email us and we’ll help.
- Providers are asked not to post photos showing people, house numbers, license plates or anything else that identifies the home or its owner.
- Copies shared elsewhere. A provider can also share a post to other sites, such as Instagram or Facebook, from their phone. Those copies are on that site, under its own rules. Taking a post down in Labor Junction doesn’t remove them, so we remind the provider to delete them too. If a copy stays up, ask the provider, or report it to that site. If they don’t respond, email us and we’ll help.
- Deleting either the provider’s or the homeowner’s account takes the posts down.
Providers’ public web pages
Every provider who publishes their profile gets a public web page at pros.laborjunction.com, with an address made from their business name. It’s made from what they keep in the app, so it changes when they change their profile.
- It shows the business name and logo, trades, service area, rating and number of jobs done on Labor Junction, whether they’re licensed or insured, links to their pages on other sites, and their portfolio posts once they’ve been up three days.
- It doesn’t show the provider’s address, phone number or email, or anything about their customers. “Get an estimate” sends visitors to the app.
- Anyone can see it, and search engines can list it. We list the pages for search engines and add details that help them show the business, such as its name, area and rating.
- The page sets no cookies and has no analytics or advertising.
- Turning off “Publish my profile”, or deleting the account, takes the page down at once. If the provider publishes again later, the page comes back at the same address.
Text messages
If you agree to texts in the app, we text your mobile number about your jobs: visit reminders and “on the way” notices, estimates, invoices, contracts and receipts, from the businesses you work with. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. We use your number only to send these texts and to handle your replies, which go to that business in the app. We send no marketing texts.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. Our texting provider (Azure Communication Services, listed above) receives your number only to deliver the messages and perform related operational functions, such as troubleshooting and security monitoring.
Reply STOP to any text, or turn texts off in your contact preference, to stop them. Reply HELP for help. See section 10, “Text messages”, in our Terms of Service.
How long we keep information
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Your account and what you add to it | While your account is open |
| Your personal details after you delete your account (via app or email) | Deactivated right away and removed from live systems; gone from backups within 35 days |
| Your account, if you ask us by email to delete it | Processed and fully purged from live systems within 30 days of your request, with immediate deactivation upon verification |
| A provider’s business records (jobs, estimates, invoices, payments, approved time, mileage and expenses) | While the provider’s account is open, then 7 years after it closes, for tax and accounting; then permanently deleted |
| Your agreement to texts, and any STOP reply | 4 years after the last text we send you, to show you agreed or opted out |
| Records of the emails and texts we sent (to whom, when and what kind) | 12 months |
| Sign-in security records (failed attempts and one-time codes) | 30 days |
| Bug reports you send | Until resolved, then 2 years |
| Crash and error reports | 90 days |
| Database backups | 35 days |
When you delete your account (below):
- Removed right away: your name, username, email, phone number, password, profile photo and logo, any connection to a Google or Apple account, your passkeys, your devices and notification settings, your public profile and web page, your portfolio posts, your home inventory’s photos and documents, and any lead services you connected. Portfolio posts of your home are taken down too. You’re signed out on every device.
- What stays: records that belong to someone else’s business. When you’ve worked with or for a provider, that provider keeps their records of the work: jobs, estimates, invoices, payments, and the visits, time, mileage and expenses they approved. Visits keep only the distance note; the exact location is erased. They need these for their own accounts, taxes and disputes. Your account no longer shows on them. Anything the provider typed in themselves, such as the name or address on their customer record, stays in their records too, for the periods above.
To have a provider’s record of you changed or removed, ask that provider; if they don’t respond, email us and we’ll help.
Deletion at the companies that work for us
When information is deleted from Labor Junction, whether you delete it, delete your account or ask us to, it is also deleted at the service companies listed under “Who can see your information”, or it ends there on their own schedule:
- Microsoft Azure (our servers, database and backups): deleted from the database right away, and from backups within 35 days.
- Cloudflare (stored photos, receipts and documents): the files are deleted from storage when they’re deleted in the app or with your account.
- Azure Communication Services (email and texts): we send only the address or number and the message; Microsoft keeps its delivery records only to run the service, under its own retention terms.
- Google Firebase (push notifications): your device’s push token is deleted when you sign out or delete your account.
- Sentry (crash reports): reports carry no name, email or IP address, and are deleted after 90 days.
- OpenAI (AI features): under its business terms, OpenAI may keep what we send for up to 30 days to monitor abuse, then deletes it, and never uses it to train its models.
- Google and Apple sign-in: we delete the link to your Google or Apple account. For an Apple account we also tell Apple to revoke Labor Junction’s access. You can remove Labor Junction from your Google account’s connected apps too.
- Stripe (payments and plans): Stripe keeps payment records for as long as financial laws require, under its own privacy policy. We can’t delete those, but we stop sending Stripe anything about you.
Our agreements with these companies require them to use your information only to provide their service to us, and to delete or return it when their service ends.
How to opt out or delete your data
- Delete your account and data: in the app or at app.laborjunction.com, Profile → Account → Delete account. Step-by-step instructions, and what’s kept: laborjunction.com/delete-account.
- Ask us to delete it, if you can’t sign in: email info@e5sol.com from the address on your account. We delete it within 30 days.
- Other requests (a copy of your data, a correction, deleting some of it): email info@e5sol.com.
- Texts: reply STOP to any text, or turn texts off in your contact preference. See Text messages.
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or change your contact preference in the app. Account and security emails still come when needed.
- Push notifications: turn them off in the app’s notification settings or in your phone’s settings.
- Location: don’t allow it, or turn it off in your phone’s settings; visits still work without it. Arrival reminders are off unless you turn them on.
Your choices and rights
- See and update your details in the app, under Profile.
- Accept, decline or disconnect providers: requests appear on Home, and connected providers are under My place → Service providers.
- Take down a portfolio post of your home: My place → Photos of my home → Rather not share. Providers can take down their own posts under Profile → Portfolio.
- Turn off notifications, location, or Arrival reminders at any time, in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Stop email notifications with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of them, or change how you hear from us in the app. Account and security messages still come when needed. When texting is available, it will be by your choice, and you can reply STOP to end it.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Account → Delete account, then confirm with your password or a passkey. If you signed up with Google or Apple, you confirm by signing in with that account again instead; for an Apple account we also tell Apple to revoke Labor Junction’s access. If you can’t sign in, email info@e5sol.com from the address on your account and we’ll delete it within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as getting a copy of your information or correcting it. Email us and we’ll help. We may need to confirm it’s you first, and we keep what the law requires us to keep, such as tax records. For records a provider keeps about their own work, we may refer you to that provider.
Security
- In transit: information travels encrypted (HTTPS, TLS 1.2 or later) between the app, the website and our servers.
- At rest: the database and its backups are encrypted with Azure SQL Transparent Data Encryption, and stored photos, receipts and documents are encrypted by Cloudflare (AES-256).
- Passwords are stored only in hashed form; passkeys keep their private key on your device, and we store only the public half.
- Access: each record is shown only to the people it belongs to, and our own access to production data is limited to the people who run the service.
No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you think your account has been misused.
Data breach notification
If we determine that personal information we hold has been accessed or disclosed without permission, we will:
- act right away to stop it and find out what happened and whose information was involved;
- tell the people affected by email, and in the app where we can, without unreasonable delay, and within the time the law requires. We’ll say what happened, what information was involved, what we’re doing about it, and what you can do;
- tell regulators, law enforcement and other authorities when the law requires it;
- tell the provider when it involves their business records, so they can meet any duties they have to their own customers.
To report a security problem, email info@e5sol.com.
Where your information is stored
Labor Junction is for people in the United States. Our servers and database are in the United States (Microsoft Azure). Some of the service companies listed above, such as Cloudflare, Sentry, OpenAI, Stripe, Google and Apple, may process information in other countries to provide their service. When they do, they protect it under their own agreements with us and their privacy policies, with the same kind of safeguards. If you use Labor Junction from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States, whose laws may differ from where you live.
Children
Labor Junction is for adults running or using home services. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll update the effective date above and tell you in the app before they take effect.
